The narrow gauge railway 'Antonivka -Zarichne' is one of the most interesting railway locations of Rivne Oblast (region). It is considered to be the longest one in Europe (106 kilometers only); it is also one of the oldest (functions from 1895) and slowest (40 kilometers per hour) narrow gauge railways. Local inhabitants call it a "cuckoo" and “Polissya tram”. For locals, the narrow-gauge railway is almost the only connection "with the civilised world". It is used to get to work, school, bazaar (markets), and even to go mushroom-hunting. Furthermore, it is popular among foreign photographers, documentary filmmakers and lovers of exotic wanderings.
Today, everyone can travel sitting in its tiny wagons, admire the magnificent Polissia landscapes from its windows, and hear the stories about the period when it had disappeared from the maps for 20 years because of the secret mission - delivering diamonds.
