BarMaky presents a modern look at the traditional taste of Ukrainian cuisine. Our main goal is to create food that brings emotions and feelings of love.
The name of the restaurant is derived from its location - at the edge of Rivne and near the village of Barmaky. From the panoramic windows of the restaurant, you can see the Barmaky hills, richly covered with blooming poppies every year in early June.
The poppy flower is one of the main Ukrainian symbols, which embodies generations’ memory. It became the basis of the restaurant's logo, which was first created by Rivne designer Oleksii Ohon. He also designed the interior of the restaurant, which he called ‘texture art with hints of modernism.’
The interior emphasizes the use of natural materials. The building is light and the walls are decorated with wooden panels and paintings created by a young decorator and artist Yohanna Yaremchuk.
A distinct feature of the restaurant is our cozy summer terrace with incredible views, where you can enjoy food in a calm and relaxed setting.
Prior to the restaurant opening, dozens of authentic recipes from different regions of Ukraine were adapted in our kitchen. The chefs experimented with a variety of spices and oils, fermentation processes, and other cooking techniques.
We pay special attention to dishes from the Polissya region, study, recover and remix them. The chef of the restaurant, Oleksandr, believes that food should be light, nourishing, but not heavy. Thanks to his recipes, guests can feel homey while enjoying the perfection of Ukrainian cuisine tastes.
Our menu mainly consists of traditional old recipes cooked in a fresh new way. We recommend paying special attention to ‘Zaiburykha,’ ‘Potravka,’ ‘Poliska Aziia,’ ‘Chebureky with lamb,’ ‘Carp Pierogi’ (dumplings), ‘Volyn sausage’ and ‘Duck with couscous.’ Additionally, you should definitely taste this classics of Ukrainian cuisine - dishes that are passed down from generation to generation - bograch, banosh, red borscht with pampushky (Ukrainian version of garlic bread), salo (lard) with garlic on a slice of black bread.
BarMaky is a place where you can relax and enjoy large panoramic windows, modern music, soft lighting, comfortable furniture, and summer terrace where you can wrap yourself in a warm blanket.
Last year alone, we organized more than 300 festive events.
We can accommodate up to 100 guests in a cozy banquet hall, there is a place for a photo area, and dancing. Guests can celebrate weddings, birthdays, baptisms and anniversaries here. Our guests are looking for s stylish table settings, unique food serving, quality service, and private parking all of which can be found in BarMaky.
The creator of the restaurant, Halyna Kukhtii, visited more than 20 countries, tasted hundreds of dishes, however, this inspired her to open a Ukrainian cuisine restaurant even more. Why? Our native cuisine is one of the most complex and diverse in the world. Thus, our team decided to create unexpected flavours, interpreting long-known dishes.
The mission of the restaurant is to preserve the code of national culture and complement ethnic history with new, transformed tastes.
